This modular pattern will show you how to make 11 different animals (“Cookie Pals”) by slightly modifying one main base pattern with different animal accessories. The head, body, and legs of the base pattern are all worked in one piece, so there’s minimal sewing required. This PDF includes the full instructions for making the bear, puppy, cat, bunny, pig, cow, sheep, panda, platypus, duck, and monkey.

Individual patterns for each Cookie Pal will be posted one at a time (one/week) for free on my website, but this PDF will give you access to every single pattern all at once, in one ad-free, printable file.

The pattern is broken down into 3 sections. Part I goes through all of the different component pieces with step-by-step photos to help. Part II gives the instructions for creating the individual animals. And Part III gives a few suggestions for additional animals you can create using these pattern pieces.

For simpler printing, there is also a text only version of the pattern with the step-by-step photos removed.

The pattern is designed using I Love This Cotton! Yarn and an E (3.5 mm) hook, but other aran weight yarns can be substituted. I recommend using the same type of yarn and hook for all of the animal pieces to ensure that everything stays proportional. The pattern calls for 6mm safety eyes, but you can stitch on the eyes if you prefer. You’ll also need fiberfill stuffing and a tapestry needle for sewing. I recommend using a stitch marker to keep your place, since most of the pattern is worked in a continuous round without turning or joining.
