This pattern shows how to crochet a cute amigurumi chicken and Easter egg, suitable for children as a toy, nursery decoration, Easter decor or gift.
Difficulty level: Advanced Beginner
Size: With the material suggested in this guide, the chicken will be 7,5cm. If you use thicker yarn, the chicken will be bigger.
With the material suggested in this guide, the eggs will be 6,5cm. If you use thicker yarn, the eggs will be bigger.
Materials:
• Yarn: white, red, yellow, pink, green. I used Bebe (50% polyamid, 50% acryl, 50g/155m) and YarnArt Begonia (100% cotton, 50g/169m).
• Hook: 2.5 mm
• Scissors.
• Filling material of your choice.
• Beads for eyes 4mm, 2pcs.
• Needle.
• Wooden stick 30 cm.
Abbreviations
The pattern is worked using US Crochet Terms. Conversions to UK terms are shown below in parentheses:
mr - magic ring
ch - chain stitch
sc - single crochet (dc - double crochet)
inc - increase
dec - decrease
sc blo - sc back loop only (dc back loop only). To make a stitch in the back loop only, you have to insert your hook in the middle of the “v” and grab only the part of the “v” that is further from you, that is the back loop. Next, make the stitch as usually.
sc flo - sc front loop only (dc front loop only).
sl st – slip stitch
dc – double crochet (tr – treble crochet)
