Hello lovelies! Welcome to KOKOMOCHI ATELIER!
At KOKOMOCHI ATELIER, we’re here to sprinkle your everyday life with handmade cute goodness. Our name, a fusion of “心” (KOKORO) for heart and “餅” (MOCHI) for a cute and squishy sweet treat, encapsulates the essence of our creations.
Each piece is hand-crafted with love; nothing is mass produced. We snag our materials from all sorts of places—craft stores, thrift shops, you name it! We’re all about repurposing and turning well-loved finds into something new and magical. You’ll find items that are one-of-a-kind or limited edition. While we might churn out some “regulars”, rest assured, each one is still handmade, ensuring a touch of uniqueness in every creation.
KOKOMOCHI ATELIER officially launched in 2024 but let’s rewind a little bit…
Once upon a time, there was MMM-FRUIT.com, a personal lifestyle blog that popped up in the late ’90s and blossomed into a tiny little web-shop and Etsy corner. Here, I offered an array of paper and crochet delights, including stationery, hats, and amigurumi stuffies. Drawing inspiration from Japanese patterns and aesthetic, my creations (like amigurumi bunnies, crochet sushi magnets, and adorable crochet cakes) found homes both online and in international brick-and-mortar shops (like Superette in London) from 2003 to 2010.
My craft journey didn’t end there. Patterns and creations can be found in notable publications like ‘The Craftster Guide to Nifty, Thrifty, and Kitschy Crafts,’ ‘Kooky Crochet,’ and ‘Lion Brand Yarn: Just Gifts.’ In 2010, life led me to Japan, so I closed up shop and embraced expat life and taught English for two amazing and unforgettable years.
Now, after a twelve-year hiatus, I’m back, creative block lifted, and super excited to share my creations with you. KOKOMOCHI ATELIER is born, where we believe there is no such thing is “too cute”! If it brings you joy and smiles, we’re all in!
As a full-time SAHM/homemaker, I craft each item individually during my free moments. Thanks for your patience! Your support is very much appreciated.
P.S. In case you were wondering about our adorable logo, it’s actually an illustration of my beloved dog Kunu. It was designed with assistance from my dear friend and graphic designer Natalie Tran. Kunu has been my faithful companion since 2018. He is a shelter rescue who was found on the streets, Chihuahua/Terrier breed, goofy and loyal. When we look at him, he reminds us that “If you get bitten by a shark, you’re not just gonna give up surfing, are you?” (IYKYK) From our handmade goodies to our logo, Kunu adds an extra dash of love and joy to everything we do.
