This tiny bundle includes two of my favourite sock designs. Fragment and Snippet were both inspired by interpreting traditional patchwork as contemporary knitting stitch patterns.
Knitting and quilting have both been a big part of my creative life for a long time…in fact, the quilts came first! I have a lot of happy memories of working on quilt projects with my family, starting in my early years.
That nostalgic, cosy sense of togetherness feels like a natural match for something as wholesome as handknit socks.
The Fragment Socks are smart and cosy, and seem to look beautiful in every single yarn. The cuff features a 2x2 rib, flowing into the twisted stitch chevron pattern, which is also ribbed, for a snug fit.
The Snippet Socks are knit from the top down, beginning with a simple 1x1 twisted rib cuff which flows into a front panel featuring two textured chevron “snippets” bordered by decorative columns down to the toe.
I’ve finished both pairs of socks with a heel flap and gusset and a wedge toe, or you can substitute your own favourites if desired. The patterns include written instructions in my Percentage Checklist style and charts.
The instructions are written for the magic loop method, but you can use DPNs if you prefer.
