Join me for a Taylor Swift inspired MKAL of epic proportions! Introducing, the the Eras MKAL a collaboration between myself and Arkaik Fibres. This MKAL will take place throughout 2024 with new releases each month. Read on for more details:
Details:
- Main MKAL - a luscious, cozy, Folklore cabin-worthy throw blanket knit in 12 skeins of Fremont Aran yarn by Arkaik Fibres. Jay is designing 11 gorgeous Taylor song inspired colors, one for each Era plus an anchoring main color to tie everything together.
- In addition, I will be pulling 10 designs out of the Jimmy Beans Wool “vault” from my days as their in-house designer, and will be re-releasing them as “Kristen’s Version” using Arkaik Fibres yarns. SO if knitting a blanket isn’t for you, you can opt to knit the monthly vault pattern instead.
Please Note: In order to participate in the MKAL, you must purchase the Knit the Eras MKAL & Vault Collection.

FAQs:
Q. How many skeins will the MKAL take?
A. Approximately 12 skeins of Aran weight yarn, or 2,200 yards of aran weight.
Q. What order will the Era’s be knitted?
A. The Eras will be knit in concert order starting with Lover and ending with Midnights.
Q. What do I get when I purchase the pattern before the MKAL start date of January 13th?
A. You will receive an information page with all of the MKAL details on it as a placeholder until I begin releasing the patterns.
Q. Can I get a preview of the yarn or pattern?
A. Unfortunately no. What I can say is that Jay’s eye for color is impeccable and the colors are all in development and will all work together in the pattern order beautifully. But, we are taking color inspo from each album era, so feel free to speculate. ;) Plus, we are integrating a gorgeous neutral color in between each era to anchor the entire project and tie everything together. I promise it will be awesome! And, while the pattern is fully designed, this is a mystery knit along, which means the actual design itself is a mystery until you receive each clue.
Q. What if I don’t knit the blanket, can I still participate?
A. Absolutely!! All Taylor fans are welcome. And even if you don’t knit the blanket, you are welcome to join us and knit the Vault accessory patterns.
Q. Do I have to knit with the recommended yarn in order to participate?
A. Nope, all aran-weight yarn is welcomed, though Arkaik Fibre’s colors are going to be STUNNING you might have FOMO.
Q. Can you tell me how to knit this pattern in another weight?
A. Unfortunately no. The pattern is designed and written for Aran weight. It would take me hours of additional testing time to rework the pattern for another weight and I unfortunately don’t have the bandwidth to be able to do that. But you are more than welcome to attempt it on your own as the pattern is released.
Q. What level of knitter is the MKAL?
A. The MKAL pattern will be an intermediate level pattern. All instructions will be written and charted. The Vault patterns are mostly advanced beginner to intermediate.
