These are separate blocks which can be crocheted together to make a scarf or used as a banner for a blanket. You can use them as a feature on a pullover or a hat. The variations are endless.
There are 7 different vehicle patterns to choose from.
The idea for this pattern came about when my little boy asked for a black and yellow scarf, just like his big brother’s. It’s a simple striped scarf. I tried. I honestly did try. Failed. My hook just would not do simple. I started to draw and the first five of the Little Vehicles arrived and I turned them into a scarf. He was thrilled!!!
Since then I have extended the selection with two more patterns and used 6 of them for a baby blanket combined with sections from the Havana Afghan pattern by Tinna Thorudottir Thorvaldsdottir (also available on Ravelry).
Look out for more little vehicles to be added to the collection!
Technique Overlay mosaic or Single-row mosaic Using US terminology
There isn’t a tutorial included with this pattern, there are amazing tutorials available online, such as the “Beginners Guide to mosaic crochet” video.
The only two stitches you need to know are single crochet and double crochet stitches and of course you need to be able to make a foundation chain or a chainless foundation row. Don’t be intimidated, you’ll be amazed how easy this technique is! I know I was!!!
Gauge/size/hook/yarn Gauge only matters when you’re deciding on the size of your item. You can use any type of yarn, make sure to use the most suitable size hook for your chosen yarn and tension.
With Aran/Worsted weight yarn and 5mm hook the sizes are: Height: 14cm Width: varies between 15 -29cm depending on which block you’re making (I deliberately left them as different sizes to leave room for creativity) Yardage (approximately and depending on which block you’re making): Main Colour: 22-41m Pattern Colour: 14-25m
The width is easily adjustable by adding extra stitches evenly to both ends.
Languages These patterns will soon be available in Hungarian!
