e-book Bundle for the Rainbow Fish Beanie & Booties :)
Video Tutorial Link in Pattern to help work the Tunisian portion of the pattern
A friend of mine was watching me make these and she said they reminded her of the Rainbow Fish, so I said, “what a great name, thanks!” If you’re looking for the coziest lounging booties and beanie ever, no need to look any further. These are a blend of 100% cotton and a 50% cotton / 50% Acrylic blend to make them extra soft. Although you can use whatever yarn you want of course! I made a green pair with the extended top using Yarn Bee Aspyn yarn & Yarn Bee Soft N’ Sleek.
Skill Level: Intermediate to Advanced because it requires Double-Ended Tunisian Crochet hook - working in the round knowledge. However, you’re welcome to substitute the rows of Tunisian with Single Crochet, it will change the look a bit, but still be very cute. I provide a video tutorial link on how to work the Tunisian portion of the pattern.
Hooks:
6mm (J) Tunisian double-ended crochet hook
6 mm (J)
5.5 mm (I)
Scissors
Darning Needle
St mkrs (at least 2)
Gauge: Work gauge swatch using the Tunisian hk and the two strands of yarn (Ivory & Mixed):
10 sts and 10 rows = 4” x 4” or 10 x 10 cm. Directions for gauge: Using 6 mm hk, ch10, + 1, sc in both lps in 2nd ch from hk, and in each ch to end. ch 1, turn.repeat to create 10 rows total.
Yardage needed (Socks): Pertains to both color schemes - C1 – 328 (2 skeins) C2 – 360 (2 skeins). If you use another yarn, make sure to get equivalent yardage. Yardage above will make 1 pair of socks (regular length & 1 hat). You may need three of each color to complete socks, hat & extended tops.
Yardage needed (beanie): C1 – 164 (1 skeins) C2 – 180 (1skeins) If you use another yarn, make sure to get equivalent yardage. Yardage above will make 1 hat with some yarn left over.
