Jacksons of Reading holds a special place in the heart of many a Reading person and the Reading-based Outcasts knitters loved being able to work with them on a project in 2010.
With Heritage Weekend approaching again, the Outcasts chatted to the lovely people at Jacksons and were excited by a book ‘Jacksons – the Story of Reading’s Oldest Department Store’ written by employee Tom Macy. The book featured a collection of old photographs of the store and illustrated the changing fashions over the decades.
This has led Outcast knitter, and recent knitted textile design MA RCA graduate, Emma Bradbury to design a piece of knitwear initially inspired by the Jacksons archive images.
