This “e-book” contains a CustomFit Recipe (ONLY) for my Snáthaid pattern
Please note that it DOES NOT include full instructions for multiple pattern sizes! Knitting this CustomFit recipe also requires a purchase of a separate CustomFit pattern for full instructions. Both the Snáthaid recipe and a CustomFit patterns are required to knit the sweaters pictured.
If you want to create Snáthaid with CustomFit, purchase the Recipe ONLY e-book for $3. That PDF will give you instructions on using the CustomFit site (https://customfit.makewearlove.com) to achieve a sweater like Snáthaid, but in your choice of size and gauge (requires additional CustomFit pattern purchase). Snáthaid (pronounced SNA-head) is an Irish word that makes up part of “dragonfly” and “needle”. I found this dragonfly’s wing brooch made by Andrew Goss and immediately envisioned a sweater with this as it’s closure. The Dragonfly Wing Cell stitch pattern reminds me of the myriad of polygons on a dragonfly’s wing. The stitch pattern has been expanded and contracted to follow the shaping of the sweater.
There are 2 versions of this sweater represented in this recipe. One uses CustomFit’s hourglass shaping, and the other uses a-line shaping. The Dragonfly Wing Cell stitch pattern is laid out in different ways on each sweater. And the collar/buttonband treatments are different as well. Choose the cozy draped collar (view 1) or a simple rolled button band (view 2). Feel free to mix and match elements to get the sweater you want.
CustomFit is a custom sweater pattern generator. It will create a basic sweater pattern (upon which this recipe builds)
to your choice of gauge and size.
To make your Snáthaid, you will:
- Create a CustomFit account (if necessary) and create a measurement set you’d like to use.
- Swatch, following the instructions in this recipe until you have a fabric you love.
- Use the “build your own sweater” wizard to create a basic pattern using the suggested design choices.
- Use this recipe alongside the basic pattern to place Dragonfly Wing Cell stitch patterning & create the collar
Approximate Yarn Amounts
Swatching will give CustomFit essential information for your own personal yarn amount needs, however you may use these guidelines for purchasing yarn for this design. Due to the nature of CustomFit, yarn amounts listed here are approximate and refer to average sizes only. I recommend choosing the yarn amount for your full bust size to give you plenty for swatching and seaming. If you have a long torso or arms, please consider choosing the yardage amount for one size larger than yours. If your yardage is close to the amount listed, we recommend purchasing an additional skein for safety.
