Knitting has been the same for a long time and has almost always looked the same. But in the world around us, knitting has started to appear in new ways, different shapes are created for different purposes using different materials. Knitting should still be around in its original shape and form, but it is capable of so much more.
I challenged myself: every day knit a swatch with no purpose. Not every day something new or different came of the needles, but sometimes the combination of stitches, colours and yarn was perfect. And slowly the idea of a book of knitting patterns started to take shape. Could this be the path to the knitting book, I had thought about writing for so long? The swatches have now been transformed into clothing. I have knitted garments, which are created in more or less familiar ways, using combinations of stitch patterns which are more or less unusual.
