The Cupcake Socks Collection is a pattern book to support a nonprofit organization called The Cupcake Girls (website HERE). In their own words:

The Cupcake Girls provide confidential support to those involved in the sex industry, as well as those affected by domestic sex trafficking through holistic resources, case management, and after care. We provide nonjudgmental support to empower our clients in their pursuits through respect, resources, and relationships.

I asked The Cupcake Girls what items they would like for their clients, and they suggested socks because they can be easily mailed, stored, and distributed, and they are a small, tangible gift that can provide comfort to someone in need or in crisis. I believe that receiving and wearing something that is handmade can remind people of their inherent human dignity, that they are worthy of someone’s time.

I developed these patterns to have a variety of socks that I could knit up quickly and donate.

Ten dollars from the sale of each e-book will be donated to The Cupcake Girls. Donations go to directly support clients with things such as emergency housing, medical support, legal assistance, therapy, career counseling and more. (The remaining 2 dollars of the 12 dollar price tag goes to cover taxes or fees that arise.)

I hope that you will knit a pair (or a few pairs) for The Cupcake Girls to distribute to their clients.
