patterns > The daughter hat and mitts set
Notes
Notes
Every woman is someone’s daughter. This hat was designed to crown all daughters, daughters in law, surrogate daughters, the daughters of all those dear to you and all those women who were born daughters. Pair a beautiful jewel of a multicolured skein with a plainer yarn for maximum effect.
From the lovely braided two-colour cast on to the beautiful pattern on the crown this is a thing of gorgeousness.

Yarn choices
You will need two DK yarns in with good colour contrast. To get a similar look use one plain yarn and one self-striping. For my plain yarn I used Wooltops British Wool - DK, a lovely shetland-type yarn in soft natural grey (and a real bargain) for my neutral yarn. My coloured yarn was a tonal self-striping handyed and handspun yarn by artisan producer Hooklineandstitches. Variegated or sprinkle yarns are other options and of course this is very smart worked in two plain colours.Wool or acrylic yarns will work fine. Several testers also found it possible to get gauge with worsted yarn or a combination of sport and worsted. Putting the multi-coloured yarn over the top of the plain yarn is an option and some splendid examples can be found among the test knits.
