We have scouted the fashion centres of the world, captured the most up-to-the-minute ideas and interpret them here for you to knit or crochet. Gone are the loose, sloppy shapes—in come fitted sweaters, ribbed, striped or patterned all over; in come narrow coats, suits and slim, elegant dresses.

The news in stitches is a spread of the Aran themes, several used together for a dramatic effect like that on our cover coat or treated one-by-one, bobbles here, twisted ribs there, for blouses and cardigans. Crochet makes its big come-back. No longer just a grandmother’s past-time, it is now favoured by Paris and all the fashion-conscious young, too. The special qualities for crochet can be seen in our designs for a suit, a dress and a cardigan—the fabrics produced are firm, yet light and they can be worked much quicker than knitted ones.

Delicate porcelain colours are in this season, bringing a delightful feminine touch to everything. Harebell blue, cool shell tones in off-white to fawn or pretty pinks, geranium tinted—all flattering, subtle shades for your new knitwear.
