Hello friends! Welcome to my crochet pattern website!
Many years ago, my mom taught me how to knit. However, it didn’t quite stick and I was tempted to the dark side… crochet. After many years of practicing, I started to design my own patterns. The patterns are modern take on classic crochet.
The business name, Yield to the Yarn, is a play on words with a common phrase for museum staff members. Underneath the Metropolitan Museum of Art is a maze of hallways, offices, and storage vaults. At every intersection is a sign saying “yield to the art” indicating to staff members to let the art through first. Most museums have similar rules, including the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston (MFA) where I interned with the Art of Europe Department for two years. I have yielded to all kinds of art as be passes through the basement to galleries, storage, or conservation. Now I work at a fine art shipping company as an Administrator, once again yielding to the art that passes through the warehouse.
I graduated from Suffolk University and decided to stay in Boston to purse a Masters degree, specializing in 17th century Dutch paintings at Boston University. I live in Somerville, Massachusetts, with my boyfriend Kyle. When not crocheting, I enjoy quilting, spinning yarn, and video games.

You’ll note that I name most of my patterns after art history concepts, artists, or paintings. Each will have a bio for some context but I encourage you to go to an art museum and experience the art itself. I hope you enjoy the patterns and the art as much as I do and learn something along the way!
