Measured dad’s head and did some swatching and math.
Made about 4 failed attempts at a hat (too big, too long, weird colorwork, decreases not smooth, and so on)
Put it to rest for several months, cast on again (88) using LT tubular. Decreases were bogging me down. Haven’t knitted enough hats yet to intuit that on my own. Just so happens that Purl Soho’s classic cuffed hat has 88 sts for the largest size (at a tighter gauge) so I’m going to knit to 7 or 8” and start the decreases using their decrease math/method.
Fingers crossed.
Also, going to take a page from the book of the forum posters and duplicate stitch the vertical white lines.
