Completed for the Outfit Along 2015. I finished the cardigan by the deadline, but not the dress.
When picking up stitches for the sleeve, pick up a stitch in every other stitch, including along the stitches for the underarm. Normally you should pick up a stitch for every stitch along a horizontal edge, but doing that will result in too many picked up stitches. I picked up and tore out stitches too many times to count before I figured this out.
I changed the paired decreases so that they always pointed toward the “seams” instead of away in some places.
For the bottom band, I started Stitch Patterns C and D on row 4 instead of row 2 so that the cables crossed later than specified to align with the pattern set by prior crosses.
I made yarnover buttonholes.
I used the Lace Bind Off on the neckline/buttonband; I used the Elastic Bind Off on the cuffs and hem so that they stretched sufficiently, but knit them very firmly since it flared if knit too loosely.
I don’t love the large wrinkle I get pointing toward the bust when I bend my elbows away from my body, but otherwise the fit is good and complements the dress splendidly.
Progress
06/01/2015 - Realized I did not own US 9 needles, so rushed out to buy circulars and DPNs.
06/02/2015 - Swatched with US 9.
06/03/2015 - Discovered that going up one needle size wasn’t enough (seriously?!) and switched to US 10 for another swatch.
06/05/2015 - Cast on back.
06/06/2015 - Started right front.
06/07/2015 - Finished right front.
06/08/2015 - Started left front.
06/10/2015 - Joined fronts and back.
06/20/2015 - Knit to bottom band. Discovered an error in my final cable repeat on both sides: I made the cable travel too soon, so it isn’t positioned correctly to flow neatly into the bottom band.
06/22/2015 - Fixed the cables and knit the bottom band.
07/03/2015 - Started first sleeve.
07/23/2015 - Started second sleeve.
07/27/2015 - Blocked.
07/29/2015 - Sewed on the buttons. Done!
