Final Update
I’m not going to do another one of these gloves, as I’m not that fond of the pattern, and I want to practice on a simpler pattern.
I think I’ll actually wear the white and the purple as a pair!

Update 3
First hand is done except for blocking. I miffed the thumb again and just like in the test mitt I ended up knitting from the inside of the thumb.
The picot edges are rolling, I hope after blocking it they will lie flat.
This is quite huge around…I did the Medium size and it’s quite roomy. Of course I plan on wearing these over other gloves so I don’t mind.
For a first pair of glove-type items I’m pretty proud of them, despite the visible ladders from where the needles meet, and the few odd stitches here and there.
This is an easy pattern to learn from, I think.
On to the second hand!

Update 2
I’ve decided to skip the second test mitt and go right for the good pair.
I’ve made one change to the pattern…I used a picot cast on and skipped the whole stuff up to the turning row…and I’ll do a picot bind off.

Update 1
I finished the first hand, but I still have to do the fold over and sew on the top and bottom. Somehow on the thumb I switched to knitting from the inside of the round instead of the outside, which accounts for the difference in the thumb. I kind of like it though!
This grew way bigger than I thought it would be. I’m going to have to get another skein of the wool to do the matching hand.
You can see the slight gap where I think the needles were, but considering it’s my first time doing something like this it’s not too bad. On a darker color I don’t think you would really notice.
This didn’t take too long to do, especially once I got into a rhythm with the needles. My biggest problem actually was doing the K2tog. I was knitting very tight, and in combination with the bamboo needles having no slip I really struggled to slip under 2 stitches.

Initial Remarks
So I’m doing it - first time using dpns for a whole project, and first time with this type of accessory!
This pattern looked relatively straight forward, and the gusset instructions seemed particularly clear to me.

I’m starting with my cheap Hobby Lobby wool as a test run to get the feel. If all turns out, I’m going to redo the project with better yarn.

I’m not going to make this test pair so long…really just glove length. I’ve gotten the hang of stockinette on the dpns, so I’m not going to spend oodles of time on the middle part. A pair of gloves will be fine!
