8/28/13:
Gauge swatching time! Or I would have if there was a gauge (pattern just says use US size 1-2). I tried US 2 DPNs and it was coming out too loose, so I went down to US 1.5 and it’s looking pretty good.

I also used a German twist cast on (first time, but wasn’t too bad after the first couple) to make sure the top is stretchy enough. I also combined needles 1 and 2 so that the chart is on one needle (and 4 DPNs was way too cumbersome for me). So far so good with the pattern and the chart!

8/29/13:
I finished one pattern repeat. The first flower is a bit wonky, but the second came out pretty good. I also missed the first cable on the left side, but didn’t want to frog back about 5 rows to fix it!

9/5/13:
I finished one sock, and even wove in the ends (why?!) and then I realized it was a smidge too small. So now it’s sitting in the naughty pile until I decide I can bear to fix it.
