I mainly improvised this, based on a Michael’s beret pattern I found in the Way Back Machine:
http://web.archive.org/web/20080121154236/http://www.mich...
I turned on every round, because I knew I would need to do that on the red/yellow/green part. I used Lion Brand for the green only because I couldn’t find L&T Charisma in an appropriate light or bright green. It would be better to use the same product line for all the colors.
Here’s a description, rather than a pattern:
Blue:
- Make a 4 ch loop.
- Make 15 dc in loop (initial ch-3 counts as a dc). Turn.
- In each dc, dc and ch1. (15 dc, 15 ch1) Turn.
-
Dc in ch1, dc in dc, ch1: 15 times. (30 dc, 15 ch1) Turn.
- Ch 4, dc in ch1, dc in 2 dc ch 1, dc in ch1, dc in 2 dc: 14 times; sl to 3rd ch of first ch-4. (45 dc, 15 ch1) Fasten off. Turn.
White:
5. Join at the beginning of a group of 3 dc. Ch3, dc in 2 dc, dc in ch1, ch1, Dc in 3 dc, dc in ch1, ch1: 14 times (60 dc, 15 ch1) Fasten off. Don’t turn.
Other colors:
6. On right side:
Red: Join at the begining of 4dc group. Ch3, dc in 3 dc, dc in ch1. Ch1, dc in 4 dc, dc in ch1: 4 times. Do not fasten off.
Yellow: Join with ch1, dc in 4dc, dc in ch1, ch1, dc in 4 dc, dc in ch1: 4 times. Do not fasten off.
Green: Do same as yellow. Slip stitch to join to first ch3 of red. Don’t fasten off. (75 dc, 15 ch1) Turn.
The simplest way to continue is to keep the boundaries between each pair of colors at or next to a ch1 space. For example:
-
On wrong side: Green: Ch 4, dc in ch1, dc in 5 dc, ch1: 5 times. Do not fasten off. Make sure that the tail of the green yarn falls on the wrong side (the side facing you). Yellow: Join with dc in ch1 between green and yellow, dc in 5 dc, ch1, dc in ch1: 4 times, dc in 5 dc, ch1. Do not fasten off. Make sure that the tail of the yellow yarn falls to the wrong side (the side facing you). Red: Join with dc in the ch1 between yellow and red, dc in 5 dc, ch1, dc in ch1: 4 times, dc in 4 dc, join with sl to 3rd ch of first green ch4. Turn. (90 dc, 15 ch1)
-
On right side: Red: Ch3, dc in 5 dc, ch1, dc in ch1, dc in 6 dc: 4 times, ch1, dc in ch1 between red and yellow. Do not fasten off. Make sure the tail of red yarn falls to the wrong side (away from you). Yellow: Join with dc in first yellow dc, dc in 5 dc, ch1, dc in ch1, dc in 6 dc: 4 times, ch1, dc in ch1 between yellow and green. Do not fasten off. Make sure the tail of yellow yarn falls to the wrong side (away from you). Green: Join with dc in first green dc, dc in 5 dc, ch1, dc in ch1, dc in 6 dc: 4 times, ch1, dc in ch1, join with sl to first red ch1. Turn. unfinished draft
