My grandparents just moved and also just celebrated a significant birthday, so as a gift, I’m weaving them this throw blanket for their new home. 3.7 yard warp, 400 ends.

Wound the warp a couple days ago, then beamed it this morning and began threading.

Got the loom all dressed up this morning!

Finished weaving today and pulled the blanket off the loom - yay! It’s a bit busier than I normally like, since my grandma chose 6 colours rather than my usual maximum 4 or 5 with this style. She also asked for some small bits of accent colours thrown in, so I put in some dark red Cascade 220 leftovers in - I’m not a fan personally, but hopefully she likes how it all turns out.

Hmm, so it’s all done, and I’ve got to say that I’m not over the moon about the final product. It’s all right, but the patterning is too busy (a tartan pattern without any funny business would probably have looked much better), and the doubling of ends to secure them when starting a new bobbin just doesn’t work well at all in a worsted weight, because the thicker sections (and especially the tuft at the end of it) are v obvious to the eye.
However, being at the loom again was quite wonderful, and I’m looking forward to weaving some visually simpler and finer-weight projects in the next little while :)
