July 5 So happy to have the opportunity to create a wall hanging as my next commissioned piece. The process feels different than my normal shawls, gives me a chance to really slip back into artistry. I am so privileged to have such fabulous clients, and it means a lot to me that they trust my vision. I am lucky indeed. :)
Title from a ravishing poem I found recently, Remember Me From Now by Taylor Mali.
July 6 Warp wound this morning, like painting with yarn.
July 12 I’ve finally come up with a satisfying weft design, after much indecision! New for me to put this much forethought in, but for a wall piece that’s always going to be visible in its entirety, it feels necessary. I’m glad I finally have a plan. Time to rock and roll :)
July 13 Weaving is done!!
July 17 Everything is done. :) There was some uncertainty along the way, but I am TOTALLY thrilled with how it’s come out!! I adore the colours and all the little details amongst the greater motion. The gold circle I decided to stitch on after the fabric came off the loom, because without it, I felt a focal point was missing. I love what it brought to the piece. Very very happy with this one.
