My Daughter-in-Law asked me to make a baby shawl for our new baby boy due in November.

I have made this shawl a few time before and she especially want it to wrap baby up nice a snug on the school run and when he is out in his buggy.

The pattern is very light and airy in 4 ply yarn and when folded into a triangle it make it so easy to swaddle a new born.

I so looking forward to meeting our new little man. It’s been 7 years since our last grandchild was born.

I used up every last piece of 500 gms. I made a simple border as it was plenty big enough already.

I started the blanket with a single crochet row.

To finish I worked a row to even-up the finishing edge as follows:

4 sc, (2 hdc, 3 dc, 2 hdc, 3 sc) repeat until end finishing with 4 sc instead of 3 sc.

Border:

1. Sc along two sides a top only
2. Hdc all around
3. (2sc, picot, 1sc for corner), 5 sc working 3 ch picot on 5th sc. all around.

Stats:

21 pattern repeats wide 211 ch approx
58 pattern repeats long
Used up every last bit of 500 gms.
