Notes

Making little rainbow ornaments with scrap yarn and will continue until I run out.

Tip: The shape improves with aggressive blocking.

The only “mod” I made to the pattern is to make it as seamless as possible by knitting in the round in reverse order, i.e.

  • Cast on 16 sts in purple, join in the round
  • Knit around
  • KFB around (32 sts)
  • Knit around
  • Change to blue and knit 2 rounds
  • Change to green and knit 1 round
  • KFB around (64 sts)
  • Change to yellow and knit 2 rounds
  • Change to orange and knit 2 rounds
  • Change to red and knit 3 rounds
  • Divide sts in half and do a 3-needle bind off on the WS (push the fabric between the needles so that it’s inside-out; after binding off, push the fabric through the CO edge to turn it rightside-out)
  • Stuff lightly and sew CO edge shut

I didn’t weave in the ends. Instead, at the colour changes, I knotted the yarns together and pushed them inside the toy.

I had enough yarn for 6 rainbows.
