2 Feb - I am knitting this for my very first KAL! I decided to tackle two-color brioche for 2015 and after a month of teaching myself the stitches, practicing and swatching, I cast on last night! I managed to get the first eight rows despite the fact that I only got home from work after 8 PM.
3 Feb - I had to frog what I did last night, it just wasn’t working well with one of the yarns, so I’m starting over again with Madelinetosh yarn in Midnight in Manhattan and keeping the Malabrigo garnet.
8 Feb -- I had to frog the whole thing again due to some very stupid inattention on my part. I have cast on with MillaMia sport weight yarn (in fuchsia and peacock) and a 4mm needle and am so much happier with how it’s going. I used Jeny’s Super Stretchy Cast On and it gave the bottom border a really clean line. I’m one whole 24-row block in and am loving it.
11 Feb -- two full patterns repeats and I think I have the hang of it. Even the br4st dec is getting easier (hint: use the stitch marker, not a cable needle, to hold it easily in front of the work).
18 Feb -- three and a half repeats in and I notice a mistake, a few extra lines that “frame” the motifs. I am not going to frog nor tink, I am too far into the 4th repeat, so this is just going to be my own “design modification.” ;-)
24 Feb -- on my 7th repeat, I think I’m about halfway finished based on the length so far.
19 Mar -- finished! 14 repeats, and I bound off using Jeny’s Super Stretchy Bind Off. I’m blocking it now nd will take pictures when it’s dry and blocked. It’s more of a stole than a scarf or a shawl. I can’t wait to wait it this weekend!
