This is a variation of Wholehearted knit in stripes. The idea rolling around my head at the time was that you could make a similar effect the mini-cables of Earthstar & Maitri Mandala, by using increases and decreases instead of cables, and so I thought I’d try it out.
This is the small size because I was working with 70g cakes. For 2x100g, work the full size, which has an extra set of hearts/20 rows. (Someone comfortable with maths could probably pretty easily extend the plain section and increase the length that way. It would mean more wedges, and therefore more yarn.)
Meas 130x60cm (52x24in)
Plain section used 8.3g of Zen (B for blue. O is for orange/Zion)
End r134= O: 25.9, B: 21.3
End r138= O: 23.2, B: 20.4?
End r142= O: 20.7, B:19.4
End r146= O:18.4, B:17.85
End r150= O:16.1, B:15.5
End r154a=13g both
End r158a= O:9.7
End r160a= B:7.8
End r162a= O:6.8
End r164a= B: 5g
Bo r166= O:1g
Total: 142g.
I’ve been calling this Zeon because it’s a pairing of Zen and Zion, but it could equally be called Now or Never, as I’ve been wanting to use these 2 colourways together for years now, and when I learned that TFA were closing shop, it seemed fitting to make a farewell shawl. Meg, Beth, & Fawn are a truly awesome team, and it’s been a pleasure to work with them over the years. I will miss you!
When the yarn arrived in the early day’s of the new year, it’s gorgeousness took my breath away, and every time I walk past them they croon ‘knit me! Knit me NOW!’ So I’m listening to the little voices in my head and knitting a variation of Wholehearted, this time in stripes.
But I do wish I’d got a second pair while I could.. I will have to frog this after I’ve knit it so that I have it to knit again!
