Blanket Binding Afghan Edging

(Tweaked from Priscilla Hewitt, http://web.archive.org/web/20010820224137/http://members....)

Blanket binding edging neatens up ragged-looking afghan sides and creates a uniform perimeter. See link to original pattern for photos of sl st technique.

  1. Join edging yarn to front of a RS corner st. Sl st around front edge of piece; join with a sl st to the first sl st. Ch 2. Hdc in the top loop only of each sl st around, working 3 hdc in each corner; join with a sl st to the first hdc. Fasten off.

  2. Join edging yarn to front of a WS corner st. Sl st around front edge of piece into the same sts used on RS; join with a sl st to the first sl st. Ch 2. Hdc in the top loop only of each sl st around, working 3 hdc in each corner; join with a sl st to the first hdc. Ch 1.

  3. Matching WS and RS sts, sc through both around. Fasten off. Weave in ends.
