I modified this pattern slightly. I started with a chain of 246 sts with a J hook (the rest of the afghan was done with an I hook). This was a multiple of 19 (12x) + 18 so I could have 8 sc on each side of each peak instead of the 7 called for in the pattern. My color pattern was as follows:
A - 16 rows
B - 16 rows
C - 16 rows
A - 18 rows
B - 18 rows
C - 18 rows
B - 4 rows
A - 6 rows
B - 4 rows
C - 18 rows
B - 18 rows
A - 18 rows
C - 16 rows
B - 16 rows
A - 16 rows
For the side border using A, I slip stitched along each side from the right side then did 2 rows of sc.
