A somewhat technical knit in the parts of the sweater where there are several diamond shapes in the same round. Rather than 2 colours only, I started with Shetland black at the bottom then shaded into brownish reds and deep madder toward the top. When I changed colours I worked alternate rows of old and new colour a few times before continuing with new colour. This produces subtle colour changes.

I originally thought I would make a second one for myself in similar colours but ultimately decided I liked the finished piece more than I enjoyed making it. (Note it took me 2 years to make this instead of 2 months)

Major point I learned was picking up sleeve stitches in pattern. In second pic one may see there is no break in the pattern at the sleeve pickup. I used this approach successfully in my ‘Lacey’ project which I will upload next.
