Notes

For the love of cables! :) This pattern is amazing to knit up - somehow, it moves fast, and you just want to do one more row. Lovely. Also, it looks awesome - that’s always good.

Made for the Joji Fall KAL 2014.

January 2015:
Picking this up again - I started the left sleeve on the 4 mm, and I could just tell that the gauge got tighter. So I needed to re-do on 4.5, and got sidetracked.;-)
Am now doing the right sleeve on 4.5, and it matches my gauge on the body better.

PATTERN:

  • Provisional cast-on, used the method provided in the pattern (but this explains how to pick it out again, which I found pretty neat). Remember to put a thread through the first row of pattern, that way it will be easier to pick out the provisional (and you won’t end up with too few sts on the needle, or not being able to tell if they’re twisted or not ;)
  • accidently didn’t start the sleeve dec. until after 8 cm. Ooooops.
  • Played yarn chicken till the very end - and then ended up with 20 grams leftover! So I guess I could have knit an extra repeat on the body, but I didn’t dare…
  • Collar/buttonband made with a few extra short rows, because seeing as I had the yarn, I might as well use it ;) Also, I like big collars.
  • Make sure you decide which side is the WS/RS, especially with the part that you might fold down - I have some of my wraps showing because I thought they’d be hidden, once I’d turn the collar down, but turned out they weren’t (admittedly, these were my extra short rows, so I think I just effed up myself - the other wraps don’t show in the same way at all). Had I thought a little more about it, I would have made sure to have put the wraps on the other side in these places… (yeah, I’m anal like that. But not so anal that I’ll pick out the 280 st tubular BO to fix it ;P) ETA: did a little mending in the form of weaving a new thread on top of the mistake - actually worked a charm, I now can’t tell where it was!
  • Used TechKnitter’s tubular BO, but only did 2 foundation rows, which works pretty well for me. It takes a lot of yarn and time, but is worth the trouble, if you ask me.
  • Size turned out pretty perfect for me - arms perhaps a wee bit long, but I like long sleeves.
  • Buttons salvaged from and old favorite cardi that had worn so thin on the elbows it had to go. I like that it now lives on it what must become a new favorite :)

YARN

  • LOVE! This is the softest, plumpest, loveliest. Oh Alix, if you should ever consider coming back, I hope you will bring this with you!
  • I’m alternating. They look pretty similar, but I’ve been fooled before.

Swatching!

4 mm in left back chart:
