10May12 - wanted to knit 18m size, but couldn’t get gauge with this yarn! I’d have had to use size 8 needles and it would have been full of holes. Instead, I decided to knit on 6s and knit the size 2. Hope it’s not too big!

I love that this pattern is top-down, but there are two things I dislike about this pattern:

1- I hate using markers. I don’t even own enough markers to follow the instructions for the first row! I’m currently only using markers at the increase points.
2- I think the cable pattern should use k instead of p at a few spots on the WS. I am going ahead and doing this as I see fit. I think it looks better

21May12 - Finished. I didn’t follow the pattern exactly for length of sleeves or length of body. I thought it seemed too long :S Maybe it’s because I’m knitting for a 9-month old, and following the 2-year old pattern for gauge and the 12-month old pattern when inches for length are discussed, but I just made this the size I think Violet is - or will be in the fall when she will wear this!

Also, I have issues with picking up stitches to knit the opposite way. Seriously. I hate button bands and I hate heel gussets on cuff-down socks. I am always paranoid that it looks like there are holes. Especially on the RS purl section. Truth be told, though, I’m probably over-thinking it. A cute pattern. Would definitely knit another sweater from the collar down.
