A little while ago I crocheted Allen Williams’ Bumpy Popcorn crochet hat.Unfortunately I couldn’t find a pattern for a similar pair of mittens to go with the hat, so I decided to design some myself!

I was a bit hesitant on how to make it work, especially with the thumb. There aren’t many up-and-down patterns for crocheted mittens, most of them work in-the-round. Nonetheless I am very pleased with how it all worked out.

The mittens in this project are an adapted version of the mittens in the pattern - I worked all cuff stitches as SCs on all rows. The wider cuff is nice when I’m wearing a big watch (I have a huge one). In general though, I prefer the tight cuff as described in the pattern.
