Notes

I’m new to crocheting and a bit of a perfectionist so I had a bit of a hard time getting things shaped right. The ears were a tab big so I used the smaller hook to make those and they seem to fit better. The directions were translated and seem to have been missing a lot of info on how to put this together and do the face so this is what I did to make it my own.

Made the bow of my own design. Chain 5. SC 3 times in 2nd stitch from hook, do 2 SL ST, SC 6 in last stitch. Turn and do 2 SL ST and 3 SC in last stitch. SL ST to close. Cut from ball of yarn with plenty of length to secure to doll. Use yarn need to feed the end of the yarn through the bow to the center, tie in a knot with the tail to secure, trim tail only and wrap other end around the center a few times over the knot to secure and use yarn needle to knot to the thread wrapped around the center. Use the remaining length to attach to your doll.

I used some black yarn to create stitches, an eye and an x’ed out eye as well as the hanging eyeball. I created a ball by tying a large knot, semi loosely so you can get a small crochet hook in between strands. I then used the small hook to slip stitch the ball larger. Start by putting the hook through a strand, yarn over and pull through, slip under another strand about a third way around the ball and repeat randomly all over the ball. You want to try and wrap the tail end under these SL ST’s so it gets hidden. When you are at about the size you want, trim the tail and continue to SL ST over top to hide the end. Pretty tedious but it worked well. Cut about a 6 inch tail to work with.

I used red crochet thread (fingering?) to create veins and blood. I did an extra loose chain using a 3 mm hook a few more longer than I wanted it to hang from the eye. This will give it a bit of a bunched up look. With the hook still in, hold the chain along the length of the tail of the eyeball and SL ST randomly around the bottom 3rd of the eyeball to make it look like veins on the eye. Then do SL ST and SC hooking the chain but around the tail end of the eyeball so they wrap around the tail to kind of hide it. You want this loose and messily random. It doesn’t have to be solid red, just noticeable. when you are done the length you want, cut the red tail and pull through so it’s secured. I used the long black and red tail and a yarn needle to attach where I wanted on the head, make sure the red is a little bunchy, and then used the tail to create the X around where I poked the eye into (pull the red threads into the inside if the head before making the x and secure inside when done). I went over the X twice to make it bolder.

For the other eye and nose I did an elongated stitch, twice in the same spot and then wrapped those stitches with the yarn to bulk it up and give it a bit of a rounded shape. The face stitches and whiskers are pretty simple if you know sewing or crocheting.
