The stitch pattern is based on the Whimsical Summer Shorties, but the fit is based on the Evanesco socks with my personal modifications.

I am restarting these socks as shortie Evanesco socks.

Cast on 16 stitches over 2 circular needles held together. Work into the stitches on both needles so that it becomes a round with a completed toe. Increase 1 stitch each end 2 stitches in for 4 increases per round by lifting the bar between the stitches,& twisting it by knitting into the back leg. Repeat this every other row until 64 stitches total.

Lace pattern - work 1 more knit round after last increase round. Work lace pattern on instep stitches only - K1, K2tog, yo, repeat across instep only, knit sole stitches. Knit 1 round. K1, yo, ssk, repeat across instep only, then knit sole stitches. K 1 round. Repeat these 4 rounds until 17cm from cast on, then start heel.
