Size 1 (35.5”)- has 5.5” of positive ease. My full bust is 30”, waist is 25”, and I’m 5’6” tall.
So addictive- I can’t put this down! I love the ribbing with the motifs of Estonian buttons and brocade. I made no modifications whatsoever.
The Gilliatt is a perfect match to gauge and has great stitch definition. Soft enough to wear without anything underneath and yet still a bit rustic looking. I highly recommend the yarn.
I never met a sweater who wanted to be blocked as much as this one. It looks so funny before blocking because the ribbing sections want to pull inwards.
My thoughts on the final fit… I likely will wear this sweater like an oversized sweatshirt. Definitely a weekend/at-home wear. Not really something I will wear to work. Still a really pretty design, just not the fit that I feel most comfortable wearing as I usually prefer a more polished/fitted garment for work.
The gauge is perfectly on point and the sweater measures exactly as noted in the pattern. I just think that 5.5” of positive ease in the bust is too much ease for a raglan on me. It just seems too wide before the sleeve split and the extra fabric bunches over and hides the cool raglan line. In addition, the sleeve depth is just a bit too long for me. There is a bit of bunchiness under the arm. In addition, the sleeve circumference in the upper arm is big on me. I know that the design expects a roomier fit, it is just proportionally too big on my small frame and unfortunately there are no options for a smaller size with less ease and shorter arm depth and smaller circumference.
