I’m using the lace yoke pattern from Whitehorse as my starting point.
Initial mods:
Fingering weight yarn
Different gauge
Smaller needles
Plan is to make short sleeves, extend part of the lace pattern so it doesn’t all end in one place right before sleeve separation, and make body about 14” after the underarm.
Using a gradient mini skein set of Emma’s Yarn from Yarn Worx. I’ve purchased two extra minis of the darkest colour to finish off the bottom.
To make the most of my minis I’m not dividing the sweater into specific inches for each “colour” but rather blending before and after a few rounds of one colour. This is only possible because there are ten colours and it is a very gradual gradient.
I’m just getting ready to start the 4th colour and so far so good.

Very disappointed in the way the yoke pattern chart is written for this size…not symmetrical at all, (and I suspect that’s true for other sizes as well but cant bring myself to look and confirm that). Some might say it’s a “design element”. I would call it lazy pattern writing and tech editing.
Unfortunately did not realise this until sleeve/body separation and did not have the will to rip it all out and start over.
