This is a HEAVILY modified version of the Shark and Goldfish Snacks pattern, adapted to knit by hand and to take advantage of the extra shaping that enables.

Knit with Yummy 2-ply held double, because my Yummy stash is vast, and I don’t have that many DK weight leftovers to play with.

If I make one again I should remember to do the fins first so that I can just knit the body until I run out of yarn.

The body of the shark was knit (and manipulated) pretty much as in the pattern, except I cast on 60 stitches.

For the dorsal fin I knit garter stitch short-row half-circle; for the pectoral fins I cast on 12 stitches, knit 7 rounds, and then did a three needle bind off.

For the tiny fish I cast on 22 stitches, worked 15 rounds even, and then decreased 4 stitches each round until I had 6 stitches total. I added the eyes, stuffed the fish, and followed the pattern’s instructions for the tail shaping.
