Notes

12/17/09 I have added my own creation to the doily. I thought it looked a little bare so I added a butterfly to it. I hope my daughter will be pleased with it . I am giving it to her for Christmas.
12/12/09 I finished it. I have not starched or blocked it yet but here is the finished project.
I’m working from the original Pattern from Star Book No 71 which was copyrighted in 1950. The hardest part I am finding is making all the little centers for the forget-me-nots. There are no exact directions on how to join each flower to the others. It just says join as illustrated. I am joining each one with a slip st to the flower indicated in the picture. You have to watch carefully to get them in the right places. So if you are not an experienced crocheter I believe you would have trouble attaching your flowers. I understand there is someone who has rewritten the pattern so maybe her directions are clearer but I haven’t seen them. Plus I understand she charges for her instructions.
I now have to make 2 of these because 2 of my daughters want one. Make that 3 now my brother & his wife want one. For the first one I am using a mixture of my Stash(pink & blue, Aunt Lydia’s, and Elmore-Pisgah Article 74 because they had the lavender and yellow (Dark Iris) and the shaded yellow (Sunset Ombre). There was no comparable green so I chose Aunt Lydia’s(Kerry Green)
It does seem to be turning out quite large. I think with the second one I will go down a couple of sizes in needles and change the stitches from dc to hdc and dtr to tr and see if I can get it a little smaller.
It is turning out beautiful though.
Flower Bouquet Here’s a link to the pattern someone has on-line you will have to scroll through the pages and enlarge it to read it. I don’t know if you can print it or not.
