I added some simple lace mesh at the top of the front. I used all four of the Reflections colorways that are dark blue+white, blending from one to the next with stripes to make smooth transitions. If I were to use these yarns again, I’d skip the Tide colorway, which is the top one; it’s too different from the other three. The lace helped it to blend, but yeah.

So… I didn’t gauge swatch, and I ended up with 19 sts/4” instead of 22 as the pattern called for. I worked as it was written for my size until dividing for the arms when I knew I had a WAY-TOO-BIG problem. Instead of adding 10 stitches at the armpits, I only added 2, which helped the size. I made it cropped with medium length sleeves. The too-big size works fine except for the shoulders, which are positioned weird on my body, meh. I improvised the collar to pull it in, making it kind of as small and tight as possible so I can still get it over my head.

I kind of used the pattern to get started, and then just did my own thing for length, ribbed edges, and sleeve decreases. I think it’s in the spirit of the pattern to go off-book!

My goal was to finish this in time to wear it on my road trip, a goal I JUST BARELY achieved, as I wove in the ends in the car as we were heading east out of Portland! Success!
