Each of the 10 colors has 4 shades, light to dark. The 10 colors are: browns, greys, purples, reds, oranges, yellows, yellow-greens, greens, greenish blues, blues.

I’m planning on knitting a square every time I watch a movie at home, since they take approx 1.5 hours to knit. I’ll aim for a couple of squares per week but I’m sure I won’t keep up that pace… so I’m expecting it to be about a 2-year project.

Update: I finished the squares in late January, 2021. The border rows are loooong and booooring so that’s taking me awhile. As of February 16, 1.5 sides are finished.

Update 9/14/21: Okay I marked today as the “Finished” date because I JUST washed it and it’s hanging to dry, after finishing weaving in the ends two days ago. I’d normally put the “finished” date as the day I finished the actual knitting, but it appears I didn’t post about it or take a photo or anything! I know I finished the squares on January 23, 2021 because I posted that on instagram. And then I finally finished the border in late spring / early summer ish -- those borders were boring and took forever to finish! Then it just sat all summer because I didn’t want to have it on my lap to finish the ends. I weaved most of the ends in as I knit, but over last weekend I snipped them all and weaved in the remaining loose ends. Phew!

They were not knit in that order, btw. The first square was Fire Walk with Me (top right) and the last square was The Sound of Music (middle-ish). The quadrants were: top right, top left, bottom left, bottom right. Some of the movies were re-watches, most were watched for the first time. Some I loved, some I hated, most were fine? I definitely don’t blanket recommend everything on this list (pun intended).
