Such a gorgeous and easy pattern! I added 850 glass pearl beads to the border.
Memories of childhood - I named this one after my maternal grandmother, and I thought fondly of her as I crocheted this. This one is big and drapey and old-timey. 850 glass pearl beads; 4 mm. ecru round.
total = 38 rows of the lacy body, 17 rows in the border (pattern calls for 28 and 11 rows.)
Lacy body pattern seems easy so far.
Cone is 1 lb. of fingering - weighs 467 gm. I will estimate that the cone itself weighs 23 gm. and there is 454 gm. of yarn.
Sept. 6, 2011 - on Row 26. I’m thinking of adding 10 extra rows before starting the border.
Sept. 7, 2011 - on Row 31.
Sept. 8, 2011 - finished Row 34. I have used 125 gm. of yarn so far.
Sept. 9, 2011 - on Row 37 of body.
Sept. 10, 2011 - did 38 rows for the body. On Row 3 of the border.
Sept. 11, 2011 - on Row 5 of the border.
Sept. 16, 2011 - on Row 10 of the border. Decided to add more rows to the border too. Used 223 gm. of yarn so far - about 884 yards.
Sept. 17, 2011 - on Row 12 of the border.
Sept. 18, 2011 - on Row 14 of the border.
Sept. 25, 2011 - I broke off the yarn after Row 14or 15, then spent hours stringing beads onto the cone of yarn. I’m now finishing the border with beads on it.
Oct. 6, 2011- I was putting plastic pearl beads on the border and ran out.
Then, a couple days ago, I bought 5 packs of glass pearls in the perfect colour! On sale for 1/2 price! So now, I am going to frog back as much of the border as I can, load up the heavier nicer shinier glass pearl beads on the yarn, and finish it off.
Dec. 29, 2011 - finally frogged back and took off all the plastic beads.
Feb. 20, 2013: finally getting back to this! Working row 15 of the border with the glass pearl beads.
Feb. 28 - on row 16 with beads. Broke off yarn and started on same WS, so beads will show through on RS.
Mar. 3 - finished row 17 of border. Broke off yarn and loaded 160 more beads for Edge row.
Mar. 4 - about 3/4 done the Edge row, with beads.
Mar. 5 - finished.
Used almost 3 packages of beads = about 850 beads.
Mar. 6 - sewed in ends, washed and wet blocked.
