Notes

Looking forward to this October KAL. One never goes wrong with one of RoseHiver’s beautiful patterns.

Have finished the first cuff. Used, 2 1.75mm needles and 3- 2mm needles. Will switch to 2.25mm needles. The cuff is just right. Snug but not tight. I have small hands - just over 7 inches around the knuckles and these are probably for my daughter whose hands are even smaller than mine (even though she is a bit taller). But I think that I may wish for just a tad more room around the knuckles.

I used 5 different rose colours, 2 yellows, a purple and a heathery green. My pic is terrible but I will do my best to get a better one when there is daylight. Not that photography is ever my strength. eta- the daylight pic does not look much different. I love the colours but am having trouble capturing them on film. I like the little purple stripey part in the centre of the cuff but it just does not show up in any of my pics. I have stranded the cuff but will duplicate any colour above most likely depending on the pattern. Since it is a mystery KAL it is more difficult to plan ahead on this kind of thing. But that is the fun of a mystery KAL.

As the next clues have come out, I have decided to make these fraternal mittens. So one is using the regular chart and one is using the reverse chart. One of the lovely things about this pattern is RoseHiver’s thoughtfulness in providing a chart with reverse colours.

clue 2 has come out and now in many ways, I wish that I had stuck to just two colours. It is a really Beautiful pattern and I don’t think that it needed any extra colours. I was imagining it to be a bit more like Angela’s mittens somehow or many others. RoseHiver has really come up with a lovely pattern - I really like how she has expanded and with subtlety continued the design on the cuff up into the mitten.

I have finished the first mitten with the exception of the thumb and the fit is perfect - snug but not tight. I stopped at row 60 for the shorter version on the 3rd chart. These mittens will be exceptionally comfortable and warm and Exceptionally soft and cozy. Just LOVE this yarn! They were going to be for my daughter but as she has told me she does not like green, I am keeping them for myself.

Finished. I really should have waited until these were blocked to take the pictures but as usual, I am in a hurry to move onto another project. Mittens for my brother.
