One of a set of 4 decorative throw pillows made to compliment the Wishful Thinking Pillow for the livingroom couch, to cover one of our couch throw pillows that came with the couch. These are my living room colors with dark green avocado walls. The 4th pillow will be a solid bone colored scrapsedelic groovy pillow.
I learned very quickly with these 3 that it is quite easy to make your own throw pillows, I will probably fill the house with them!!
And most importantly, to make the panels 1 inches smaller than the size of your pillow insert so it doesn’t crumple up in the corners and leaves clear smooth edges instead, and the last rows of DCs on each panel make a much cleaner edge when sc’ d together. And they can be adjusted to more or less rows as needed until the panels are a cm or 2 smaller than the pillow, then sc’d together.
Made in 2 separate panels with
A 6mm hook, chain 36 + 1 for turn
Front side, a simple basket weave pattern - (FPDC in 4 sts, BPDC in next 4) with hdc in first st & last stitch of each row &
A chain 1 for turn. (Alternating rows with the opposite (BPDC in first 4 sts, FPDC in next 4 sts) hdc in first and last stitch of each row & a ch1 for turn & continue alternating rows needed to achieve the height you want. Mine 8m the photo above is 18 Rows of basket weave st,
Then - Sc around entire edge and 2 rows of DCS (3dc corners- no chain spaces).
Back side - same number chains, then rows of straight DCs (with HDC in first & last) chain only 1 for turn as personal preference . Sc around entire edge and 2 rows DCs with (3 DC sts in each corner - no chain spaces.
Putting wrong sides together and with the front basketweave side facing, a simple SC in both panels on all 3 sides around, slip in pillow insert & finish with sc all along 4th side. Fasten off & weave in ends.
Easy to create and I love making throw pillows and am totally addicted to them!!!
