Puff count: 11

I have succumbed to the addictive appeal of tiny, easily completed units. I was going to resist this pattern until I met someone and she let me pet her hexapuff. I was a goner. I imagine that I will be obsessive about it for a bit, and then taper down to a few puffs a week. Which is ok. I have other knitting that also needs doing!

Hrm. I appear to be making VERY TEENY HEXAPUFFS. This extends the time in progress until eventually the heat death of the universe. Also, magic looping on this particular needle is leaving me gaps. On Friday I can buy proper needles -- I am thinking size 5 Kollage square DPNs. However, on the size 4 knitpicks 16 inch, I am getting a hexapuff at BEST 2.5 inches from point to point. Need to figure out what’s going on.

Oho, mystery solved -- the yarn I am using is LIGHT fingering, rather than regular fingering. That accounts for it. I think I will forge ahead for now and possibly just have size segregation in my eventual blanket… or something. But now I know what’s up.

The Socks That Rock Silkie knit up to the appropriate gauge, so yes, it was just that my yarn was too skinny. I’ve seen other people who have worked with light fingering by changing the cast on, so I should look that up.

I got Kollage Square DPNs in size 5, 5-inch length. I am remembering how to use DPNs, but it’s better than magic loop for this particular project, I think.

The mini-mochi is working up smaller than the Silkie. I am not sure what I am going to do about the divergent sizes yet.

10/9: .5
10/21: 11
2/4: 32
7/22: 60
4/15: 75

TRAGEDY -- Lost my bag with 8 finished hexapuffs and my needles. Sorrow. Weeping. 5/15

However, I have decided that I am working toward being able to create a cushion for the top of my hope chest.
