Notes

When I first saw this shrug I decided to make it, here is my interpretation:

Prov. CO 126: G5 K16 G4 K16 G5
6th R and every 12th R Wishbone Cable over 16K
Incr. midsection Garter after Wishbone Cable x 2 from 4G to 8G and decrease on the other side for shoulder slope.
After 5 Cable Knit 1 Cable just Back, than Prov.CO for front again and knit another 5 Cable.
Finish with Garterband over midsection for 10 R for sleeves, 3 needle bind off or kitchener to close sides, decrease 3S over Cable to retain shape.
Pick up prov. CO other side and finish sleeve as before.
Attached Garter Collar over 20 S. Decrease 1S for Garter, 3S for Cable to retain plush cable.
For Waistband pick up 1S of each Garter Row, knit 10R Garter, bind off, done!

I am very happy with the outcome. It hits exactly on the waistline in length and so I still have form, don’t look like a barrel! This can change any minute, it’s soaking and who knows what that process does to the outcome.

Do it again! After wash fabric has relaxed and the shrug is now 10 cm longer, hardly anything gained in width. Still nice but I just loved the length before, hitting at the perfect height. Next time reduce garter sections from 4S to 3S, reduce cable from 16S to 14S cable as follow: 4S 3S 3S 4S, Knit instead of 12R just 10R inbetween cable, this should help to make the wishbone more compact. Adjust Garter for sleeve accordingly.

I love the yarn, looks tweedy wooly but has a nice dry feel to it thanks to the linen/silk content, perfect for southerners. Yes I know lot’s of knots, but like with Noro no drama, just cut, double knit 4 stitches after next row cut remaining length and done! The “Matter” is normal for tweed, the blue/yellow bits make it interesting. Look at all the pictures with the matching fabrics, lots of dresses / tunics / shirts and skirts to come? The answer is no, I never will live long enough to use it all so here it is, I am edging closer to what I should do:

DESTASH what an evil word, but I have outdone myself, that’s for sure so anyone interested in materials used in this project send me a message.
Quality Quilting Fabric in pure cotton from Rowan / Free Spirit will be 20 AUD/yard
DB Winter Garden yarn will be 12 AUD/skein. I have Copper, Gold, Autumn Leaf and Berry somewhere … I will find it, just send mail and I go on yarn excursion.
