Knit Verdun was founded in 2018 to bring together the knitting, fiber arts, and crafting community of the South-West of Montreal. We do not currently have a brick-and-mortar location, but hold pop-up events in the borough of Verdun and beyond, including our weekly Knit/Craft night at N sur Mackay (downtown) on Monday evenings.
Who is behind Tricot Knit Verdun?
Katie Rose is a Verdun-based knitter with over 25 years of knitting experience (the benefits of teaching your kids to knit, folks!). Although she was taught knitting and crochet as a child from her grandmother and mother, it didn’t become a passion until her teenage years, which coincided with the boom in internet resources available to crafty DIY-ers.
Katie taught knitting for 6 years at Stitch House Dorchester, in Boston MA, during her graduate school years, where she also began her portfolio as a knitwear designer. Her designs can be found on Ravelry and in select local yarn shops. She loves quick knits, bright colours, and luscious contrasts, and has a soft spot for sock yarn.
Knit Verdun holds a weekly free knitting/crafting group at Le Baobab Café in Verdun, and is offering ongoing series of knitting classes for beginners. Please get in touch with questions, comments, or requests!
