Knitting: Beanie, Toque
The Bestie Beanie is a cable stitch hat knitted in the round. A 1x1 rib is worked to create a stretchy brim, after which twists and braids alternate with a basket-weave pattern on either side of the decorative front panel. The name comes from the fact that this was designed as a Christmas present for a friend.

This is a very simple, very beginner friendly pattern. It uses only simple stitches and easy to customize. Crochet: Beanie, Toque
The colors I used for this original hat reminded me of a red velvet cake, but would definitely look good in any color. The pattern is super flexible too. It’s written for weight #3 yarn, but sizing is based on your measurements, as long as you have a multiple of 6 for your stitch count.
Knitting: Scarf, Beanie, Toque
The Checkerboard Cable set is the first pattern I’ve ever written. It consists of repeated sections of purl, knit, and cable stitches. It’s not a difficult pattern. The alternating cable and purl sections create a bit of a diagonal ripple effect that is really quite pretty.
