This neckerchief is deceptively simple with a wide, garter stitch wingspan coming from a central lace panel. It is designed to tie loosely around the shoulders which makes it a warming addition to any outfit.

I wanted to make a smaller, light weight, alternative to a shawl; something that could easily be pulled from my bag and protect my neck from the sun. The idea made me think of the neckerchiefs worn by the Land Girls as they worked the fields.

I wanted to use a beautiful, earthy wool that would reflect all the subtle colours that Autumn presents and quickly decided to look to Jamieson and Smith’s 2-ply Jumper Weight Pure Shetland Wool. Their colour palette is just stunning and the texture of the wool represented something natural and rustic that fitted the patterns so well.
