Beautiful Cables Volume 1 contains 37 original cable stitch patterns. Some of them were seen first in Celtic Trail Sampler but have not been published in any previous collections.
Knitting: Throw
Celtic Trail Sampler is a sampler style cabled throw made in one piece, including borders, with minimal finishing. The layout consists of shaped sections of multiple cable panels separated by textured bands. All of the cables are my original designs, some of them seen here for the first time.

This throw layout was inspired by a sparse repeating stitch design from my book “Stitch Definition.” It gains new-found character with the addition of dense patterning. The size is suitable for a baby blanket.

The densely cabled body of this lap blanket is framed with a wonderful mosaic border. Directions are also included for a version with a plain border treatment, and the center cabled section can be used alone as a baby blanket.

This small lap blanket was inspired by my favorite classic Aran-style sweater layout. An elaborate version of the traditional central lattice is flanked by chunky horseshoe-type cable panels and textured side panels, then finished off with ribbed borders.

A light and lovely lace cable wrap begins with a back panel of leaf and berry motifs painted in delicate stitchery. Each end is then picked up from a long edge of this panel, and worked in an easy repeat down to a wide border. The theme continues in narrow asymmetrical panels, and ends in a tiny leafy edging.
