Knitting: Mittens
These mittens combine the traditional art of selbu patterns with a modern twist of hand dyed yarn. I really wanted to make a pair of mittens that let the variegated yarn really show, at the same time as it let’s the pattern itself show.

Whilst I was designing the Narvik hat, I really fell in love and wanted to make mittens with the same colourwork. These mittens are fairly quick to make up and they’re inspired by the Norwegian knitting traditions.

Here it finally is: the pattern for the traditional Norwegian “tovavotter” (felted mittens). These mittens are super quick to knit up, and you can felt them by putting them in a washing machine or a table dryer. The pattern also has instructions on how to do the machine felting.

Nordic Stars is a pair of socks based on traditional Norwegian socks called ”Russelester” or ”Russesokker”. The socks are knitted in DK weight yarn, and have stranded colorwork all over. There is something nostalgic about the selbu star and lices together. It makes my mind og right back to my childhood, when we used to run and play in the Norwegian winter forests. We were always dressed in these kind of hand knitted items, mostly made by my amazingly talented grandmother.

This gorgeous slipped stitch shawl is a simple, yet effectice knit. The Slipped stitches really makes the shawl stands out, and allows you to play with colors.

This pattern was initially made as a har for myself for springtime in the arctics. I love the flat look of the faux cables, it’s super squishy without adding bulks to the knitted fabric.

The Sigrid socks are beutiful socks knitted cuff down. They have a simple, yet stylish faux cable going down the length of the socks, a heelflap and gusset the way my granda tought me and a rounded toe.

The Sigrid Har is a wonderful lace hat with faux cables. It looks more intricate than it is, and it is a wonderful hat both for everyday wear and for the days when you want to feel a extra pretty.
