Knitting: Throw
This very simple pattern uses bulky yarn in 2 colourways, and a light-weight yarn for contrast (e.g. DK, Sport, or Fingering). If you opt for thick-and-thin yarn it adds an extra element of fun, but it can be worked with any combination of three different yarns, hence the name.
Knitting: Mid-calf Socks
I thought of the name, and loved it, so had to design a sock that suited it.
Knitting: Beanie, Toque
Unusual sideways construction and a fun change-of-pace for the brim means you never get bored (but it’s not remotely tricky). The shape gives it class and the stripes give it sass … or is it the other way around?
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
Such a pretty and easy shawl! It’s just garter and slip-stitch, but the unusual sideways construction creates a decorative striped border, and the slip-stitch pattern is a breeze to memorize. Makes for a great break between tricky projects, and is suitable for newish knitters: come enjoy the tranquility of the Borderland.
Knitting: Washcloth / Dishcloth
Can you remember the six wives of Henry the 8th, the king? It’s much easier to remember the six stitches of Henry the 8th, the dishcloth!
Knitting: Washcloth / Dishcloth
This festive dishcloth only requires attention during cast-on and bind-off! The rest is a breeze. Perfect for public knitting, or watching TV, once you get started. Three colours of yarns in garter stitch form thick stripes where the ridges meet.
Knitting: Washcloth / Dishcloth
This simple, very scrubby dishcloth is easy to make, easy to memorize, and hurrah, no purling! (Unless you like purling, in which case feel free to replace all the knits with purls and it will work out much the same way, only backwards). Frequent yarnovers and changes of direction give it a fun zigzag shape.
